Sretenka Design Week, Moscow, Russia
The first Russian design festival within the Days of Design in Moscow.
From the 4th to the 12th September, on the territory of Sretenka space a festival Sretenka Design Week took place. It introduced the mainstream audience to the making of the native industrial and object designers. For the time of the festival the oldest Moscow street and the adjoining blocks became an eventful district, a place of active city life.
Galleries, shops, cafes, restaurants, and the whole urban environment, such as the boulevards, public gardens and alleyways, were used as exhibition space.
The official opening of the festival Sretenka Design Week took place on the 6th of September in the Center of Modern Art M’Ars.

For the whole week the DesignBoom and VHUTEMAS, the eastern gallery, “School of Drama Art” galleries hosted the program of lections and work-shops of well-known Russian and overseas designers – “Meet the design”. Luis Eslava talked about the modern Spanish design; Umberto Giraudo conducted a sketch tournament on the creation of objects from domestic life. A meeting with the European experts, the participants of the Future City Games: Vita Brakovska, Philipp Iland, Martin Stokely, Clive Fletcher, Ieva Zibarte, Vadim Kibardin, who conducted the work-shop “Chaos and Order”.
Dmitriy Barbanal and Lisa Oreshkina read a lection on the topic of the ecology of urban environment and awareness, Timur Burbaev talked about “The Factor of facture”.
Project “Points of Design” covered the interiors of cafes, shops, restaurants and galleries of Sretenka Space, where small one-man exhibitions of Russian designers (Vadim Kibardin,
Yaroslav Rassadin, Arseniy Leonovich, Aleksey Dushkin, Oleg Kovalev, Dima Loginov, Dmitriy Bukach, Igor Klimenkov, Pavel Eekra (Kuleshin), Maxim and Oksana Podgorodeckiy, Fineobjects sudio of object design, Artemiy Lebedev studio, ARCHPEOPLE architectural-production laboratory, and many others) took place.
The MIR exhibition (made in Russia) took place in DesignBoom gallery. In one it got together the objects of most of the designers, who participated in the project “Points”. More than two hundred objects of industrial design were presented, and one could buy them on the spot.
