USB Dandelion by Vadim Kibardin– Lamp of the Year
"We have long got used to the fact that music can be downloaded to our iPod through an USB-port of our computers. Using this port, we can get photos to our computer or synchronize electronic organizers. Apart from this, today telephones that can be charged through USB appeared as well. And now we came to deal with decorative devices. Designer Vadim Kibardin created a USB-lamp and named it Dandelion. The model consists of a flexible metal stem with a USB-plug on one end and a transparent diffuser with a luminodiode on the other. Low-current modes are enough for the lamp - for example, the lamp will still work even if the computer is off, and the operational life of the luminodiode is 1000 hours of ceaseless lighting."
